I’ve always had a hard time figuring out when I need to take a break. Usually it’s too late by the time I do, and I need to learn how to listen to my instincts instead of pushing through.
Taking a break is vital. It’s the space in between where ideas for making the book better float to the surface at their own speed. It’s the quiet where ideas for new stories percolate and bloom. I can capture them as long as I’m paying attention.
It’s staring out the window and daydreaming time. It’s watching a lot of movies and catching up on TV. It’s taking the time to work with your hands and reconnecting to your body. It’s tackling the TBR pile and letting your unconscious do the heavy lifting.
I’m making wishes and planting seeds. I wonder which will take root.
