When you’ve been writing so intensely for so long it feels like waking from a bad dream, like you’re not really quite conscious yet, your head is foggy, you don’t know if you’re excited or if you’re exhausted, and you need to walk it off, or watch mindless television until your brain goes off on a different track…

I remember one Edward Gorey story where the character was a writer, and he’d been writing so intensely one day that he fell asleep early, and when he woke up in the middle of the night and walked through his house in the semi-darkness, he encountered one of this characters at the head of the stairs.

    Sort of like that. 🙂
