The last update to WordPress finally broke my old theme. I suppose that means it’s about time for a total redesign? In the meantime, I thinks this works well enough and all the old links and posts are still here.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the layout quite yet, but watch me fall down the web design rabbit wholeΒ for a few weeks…
In the meantime, here’s a little show and tell:
There she is! All 119k, printed double-sided, with narrow margins, and in Garamond font (to save ink). Though it’s the longest thing I’ve ever written, it looks a lot humbler than the last because of the print format.
Onward with the edits we go! I’m trying to get myself organized for the next round so it doesn’t take too long. Hopefully soon, some poor, brave, souls will get to read it.
Aww, I’m always worried about that when I update WordPress. And I so loved your old theme! The ink stains…
Well, this one is nice enough in the meantime. π Very clean and elegant.
Yay edits! Good luck! And I’m sure those poor brave souls feel fortunate too. π
I was also totally worried that I managed to corrupt my database! Luckily it was only the theme! And thank you for the well wishes π
Doesn’t it always look so pretty printed out? π Good luck with the next round of edits!
It does! It’s amazing to think – that’s a book. Thanks Shari π
First of all, good luck with the design (I had to wait until I got home to even see the difference, since the mobile theme didn’t change π ). I suck at design, so I have no advice on that. If I did, you’d be well advised to ignore it.
It is a great feeling to see the work on paper, isn’t it? No little listing of how many kilobytes or how many words is the same, that’s for sure.
Oh, and: Back up your database, on some sort of regular schedule (my two cents π ).
Thanks Anthony! It is a great feeling. It actually feels like a thing now instead of just an abstract notion of a book. It’s right there in my hands. And yes, I really should backup more often.
Hope your edits go smoothly. I’m in the same place with my latest project too. Just need to cut 9,000 words….somewhere….
Awesome to see a finished manuscript printed out in all its glory like that…
I shudder to think of the paper + ink costs…
Definitely don’t use an inkjet to print one…
