I always look forward to the new year, where lies ahead an infinite number or possibilities. It would be nice to keep that feeling alive every day, but it’s easy to forget when you’re mired by deadlines, or frustrated by lack of progress, lack of sleep, lack of time.
But, looking back is just as important as looking forward. Wow, what a year. 2010 was a busy year, but a good one. 2010 was the year of blogging and tweeting. What a joy that’s been. Somehow, I managed to do everything on my list of goals. I think the biggest lessons I learned last year was that I can finish writing a novel. Among the smaller lessons, I figured out what kind of writing schedule I can stick to.
And, so 2011, I’ve got big plans for you. I will finish editing this novel in the next month or so. I’ll get to start researching agents and queries, and send her out into the world. I’ve also got plans for two more novels. I don’t know which one I’ll start on first. One’s an urban fantasy, the other is the sequel to this one.
I’m excited. I wish you could see the silly grin on my face right now. I have a feeling that this is going to be a good year. I hope 2011 is a good one for you too.
Woot! Your post? Could be my post! Go us! And come on, 2011!
*pompoms* Bring it on! 🙂
Indeed… Excellent things to look forward to in 2011. My list of expectations isn’t quite so positive on the writerly-side… but I am very excited to finally be done with my education, so that I can put my life into an order that makes sense to me again. I honestly don’t feel I can set specific, measurable writing goals for myself until I know what life post-grad-school will be like… but that’s still five months away. But I’m ready to get there!
It’s the last 5 months. I think those are always the toughest, because the end’s in sight. Good luck!
Congratulations Tessa for sticking to your list. I am happy for you 🙂
And good luck with the querying and agenting! We’re here for ya. Have a blast this 2011.
